Experimentación con Fotos-I

Esta semana estoy experimentando diferentes técnicas para alterar fotos.

Una de las técnicas que quería probar (vista en el libro de Karen Michel-The complete guide to altered imagery) desde hace mucho era la alteración de una foto (revelada en laboratorio-no funciona con las inkjet) con lejía.

Me encantó el proceso y el resultado. Se pueden hacer un montón de cosas diferentes con esto, y pienso jugar más los días que vienen...

De momento, os enseño una foto que alteré con lejía, tapando algunas zonas con pegatinas en forma de estrella, y rascando alguna zona con un objeto puntiagudo. Para obtener resultados óptimos es mejor escoger fotos que tengan zonas bastante oscuras.

Ahora, el reto es integrar las fotos en un fondo de manera armoniosa...eso ya me cuesta un poco más.

El otro ejemplo que os enseño es el de una foto que pinte con chalks y luego la integré recubriéndola parcialmente de Gesso...me gusta el efecto en la foto pero no tanto como queda en el fondo.

En fin, experimentar es el proceso. Poco a poco.





This week I have been playing with photos printed in a lab, altering them with bleach (one of the techniques in Karen Michel's book-The complete guide to altered imagery. Which I recommend. I love this book, and Karen's work!). In the photo I show you, I have been masking some zones with star stickers and gel medium, and scratching other zones with an embossing stylus. I really enjoyed the process-kind of magical- and the results. You can play a lot around this, including stamping with Versamark to create masks (one tip I have discovered during the process), etc.

Now the challenge is to integrate the altered photo into a background. Tough, very tough!

The other picture I show you have been colorized with chalks and then partially covered with Gesso. I like the result on the photo, but not that much with the background...

Anyway, experimenting is the process. Little by little, step by step. I will definitely play more the coming days!
